3D Export

Storyboards don’t have to stay flat

Speed planning and setup for set design, blocking, lighting, VFX, and Post. Use your 3D storyboards directly in Unity, Unreal, Blender and more. In this business time is definitely money, so do Pre-Production Fast with Previs Pro.

To use, when inside a Scene or Shot, go to the Ellipsis menu (“…”) and select 3D Export.  From this menu, select your Preset destination (Unity, Unreal or Custom) and then choose what you’d like to export.

Some of the less obvious options:

The “Floor Plan” option will export a 2D image of your whole shot for placement on the floor to aid in positioning.

The “Textures” options lets you export your props with the textures you see in Previs Pro (Textured), or native mesh (Untextured), or Colorized, with each category (Props, Characters etc) color coded to aid in planning.

In the “Custom” Preset you can also decide whether all items are grouped, meaning maybe you want all your props to be one Object, to simplify your workflow if you’re only going to be moving or removing Characters.  There are a bunch more options in Custom poke around and let us know if you need something not available.

After you export, Previs Pro will save a zipped folder on your device. This contains all the objects and textures necessary to recreate the scene in your 3D program of choice. If you select the Unity Preset, we include (this is an evolving feature) a native script to help you quickly import and setup the scene.

As 3D Export is definitely a “Pro” feature, that requires technical knowledge of other 3D software, we expect it to be used by a minority of our users. Given that, if you’re one of that group we’d love to hear of your experience. It’ll help us make Previs Pro an even better tool for your next project. 🖖
